The Seven Wonders of the World are a list of the most remarkable man-made constructions of ancient times. The original list, compiled by Antipater of Sidon, a poet and writer in the 2nd century BCE, included the Great Pyramid of Giza, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, the Colossus of Rhodes, the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, and the Lighthouse at Alexandria. These structures were considered to be the most impressive and awe-inspiring examples of human achievement in the ancient world.
