Top 5 snacks to avoid with your kids
/Have you ever walked down the grocery store aisle and wondered what snacks you should not get for your kids?
While we know that sugars, fried food and junk food are unhealthy, we need to know which snacks to avoid. Here we go with our top 5 list of snacks to avoid:
1. Sugary cereals.
They contain so many preservatives and additives. They do not provide a significant source of daily vitamins.
2. Candy.
It contains so much sugar and other ingredients that if consumed in high quantities, it can make anyone feel sick and yucky. And let’s admit some kids don’t know when to stop eating tasty candy causing over indulgence and a bad tummy ache.
3. Soda.
This should be a no no. Soda is linked to lots of health problems including diabetes, ADD and ADHD. A bottle of soda can have over 60 grams of sugar. Whoa! That's a lot of sugar. That's 4 times the amount of sugar a kid should get in a single day.
4. Fruit snacks.
Skip this aisle completely. Gummy fruit snacks, gushers, fruit roll ups, and fruit jellies carry so much sugar it's basically sugar. Some fruit snacks may say “made with real fruit,” but this may not mean healthy at all.
5. Hot Dogs.
Did you know hot dogs are top ranked among a list of foods to avoid giving to kids? Not only are they dangerous to feed to a kid under 4, but they also carry a lot of additives and are a mixture of different meats and animal parts with added chemical coloring. Yikes. Next time you give your kid a hotdog make sure it’s cut into half circle pieces or avoid it completely.
