Are You Cleaning Your Denture the Right Way?

OTC cleaners work well, but so does plain old white vinegar.

Keeping your denture clean is important for your oral health! Here’s how:

  1. Daily Rinse: After eating, rinse your denture under lukewarm water to remove food particles. Avoid hot water—it can warp your denture.

  2. Brush Gently: Use a soft-bristled toothbrush or a denture brush. Regular toothpaste can scratch it.

  3. Soak Overnight: Place your denture in a cleaning solution. White vinegar is a cheap, effective soak. You can also get cleaners like Polident from the drug store. For tough stains, use a denture cleanser or an ultrasonic cleaner.

  4. Disinfect Weekly: Use a diluted solution of 1 teaspoon of bleach in a cup of water. Rinse well afterward with water or mouthwash.

  5. Mouth Hygiene: Clean your gums, tongue, and mouth with a soft toothbrush or mouthwash before wearing your denture.

Proper care keeps your denture fresh and your smile healthy!
